There were always lots of animals around. Up until my teens in the early 50’s it was a dairy farm with some laying hens. We also had sheep that spent the winters in the barn, and summers in one of the orchard pastures. It was a challenge to get the sheep from the pasture in the fall, but Patsy was a big help with keeping them heading in the right direction. There was generally a pig or two and of course cats and kittens. We had horses in my very early years but they were replaced with tractors soon after the war ended.

The dog holding the whiffle tree is Rover and I am pretty sure the other dog is Trixie. The man holding the horse is Pete Quirrion.
